Our organizations and activities
The following is a list of activities and organizations available at Saint John the Evangelist Parish, to which you are invited to participate, join, or volunteer.
The Pastoral Council assists the Pastor in his leadership role of planning, organizing, initiating, promoting, coordinating, and reviewing the evangelization, worship, religious education, and service activities within the parish.
The Financial Council assists the Pastor by providing counsel, when requested, concerning the general care and administration of parish property and finances and in making appropriate reports to the diocesan bishop and the faithful of the parish concerning revenues and expenditures.
The Young Adult Ministry is comprised of parishioners ranging from college-age and up. It involves participation in various volunteer service opportunities and social events. There is no formal membership procedure and is open to anyone desiring to participate and does not require joining a group or committee. Participation level depends on your availability. This ministry welcomes all ideas and suggestions.
The Altar Guild is responsible for the physical maintenance and apperance of the altar and sacristy, as well as certain other aspects of the church. Church supply inventories are kept up-to-date as well. Prepares and maintains the altar and church for all liturgical seasons and church related events that involve liturgies, flowers, decorating, linens, Priests garments and other items stored in the sacristy.
The ministry meets monthly to develop and present a variety of annual events, social and religious.

Meets every Monday following the 9AM Mass for prayer and discussion of parish outreach programs. Assist with Baptism Liturgy each month and provide hospitality following other parish events.
Provides a variety of annual and one-time social events for the entire parish community.
Meets each month to promote pro-life activities.
Meets on the first and third Wednesdays every month at 7PM, in the lower church. Assist needy individuals in Canton with aid as needed.
Provide the morning coffee and doughnut social after each 9:00AM Sunday Mass.
Each month a family/individual receives the Cross during the 9:00am Sunday Mass and prays for vocations along with the parish community. Temporarily suspended program...for more info call the rectory.
